An interesting Music video
I was in Ethiopia for a few months last year and I met people from different countries apart from the native Ethiopians. There were people from Egypt, Cuba, Ukraine, England, Germany, Holland, USA etc. The bulk of the foreign population was still Indians anyway.
We knew the Cubans and the Ukranians well coz we were associated with them somehow and got around to knowing them as more than just acquaintances. We had been to one of our Ukranian friends' house once and they were showing us a lot of interesting stuff about the place they live in Ukraine, which is called Odessa. We came to talking about music and I was surprised to know that India has made its big impact in Ukraine as well. They showed us a music video of one of their pop artists and it had me shaking in a fit of laughter. Read more to find out why.
The music and the video have nothing in common. Its just your regular disco type of pop music.
The video opens with a pair of twins getting lost at birth (this concept has been used innumerable times in all languages of Indian movies). One grows up to be a singer in a dance club and the other one ends up as a business man, the kind of guy with sidekicks and so on. It so happens that the business twin and his girlfriend (along with a pair of his hefty bodyguards) come to the same dance club in which the other twin does his music shows. The business twin and his girlfriend sit down for drinks. He tries to impress her by doing something silly but she is getting more attracted to the singer twin by the minute. She slowly moves towards the singer twin and starts dancing with him. The business twin watches for a couple of minutes, makes sure his anger builds up to the boiling level and then charges at the singer twin and challenges him for a fight. They face each other (with the girl inbetween), and suddenly a flashback kicks out of nowhere and they realise that they are brothers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are so overcome with joy that they push the girl away and start hugging each other as would any two brothers will. THE END.
P. S. Inbetween scenes, there are movie clips of a flop hindi movie which, surprisingly, is not a twin-brother story. The movie is called "Koyla" and it starrs Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and the late Amrish Puri. Just before the challenge for the fight scene occurs in the music video, there is a clip of the hero and heroine of the movie jumping off a cliff. It surprised me because the movie and the story of the music video are in no way related to each other and I couldn't understand the purpose of using the movie clips in the first place. Neither could anyone else.
